Abstract applications will be accepted from April 2 to May 14, 2012.

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

All applications must be submitted using the online Abstract Application Form found at www.histiocytesociety.org/abstract app.The deadline for submitting an application is May 14, 2012. No extensions will be granted.

Abstract applications must be written in the English language. If an abstract is accepted, one of the authors must be present at the Annual Meeting in order for the abstract to be published with Pediatric Blood and Cancer (PBC), the journal with which the Histiocyte Society is affiliated.Abstracts that include data from ongoing Histiocyte Society studies will not be considered for presentation.Abstracts that include previously published data will only be considered if the manuscript was published less than one year from the Annual Meeting significant updates have been made to the data that are important to advancing knowledge of histiocytic disorders.

Abstract applications that do not comply with these terms and conditions, as well as the instructions below, will not be reviewed or considered for presentation at the meeting. Abstract authors will be notified of their abstract’s approval status on or about June 18, 2012.Please direct questions regarding abstracts to the Histiocyte Society Secretariat’s Office at secretariat@histiocytesociety.org.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE ONLINE ABSTRACT APPLICATION FORM

Abstract applications must be submitted using the online Abstract Application Form found at www.histiocytesociety.org/abstractapp. Please refer to the information below to prepare for the submission of your abstract application online.

Primary Author Information

Provide complete contact information for the author that will present the abstract at the Annual Meeting, including name, company/institution, department, address, city, state/province, postal code, country, email address, phone and fax number. The email address you provide will be used for all communications in regards to the abstract being submitted.

Abstract Information

Type of Abstract Presentation Requested
Choose one type of presentation you would like to make at the Annual Meeting, either oral or poster. Note that only oral presentations are eligible for consideration of the Nesbit and Nezelof Prizes; those requesting poster presentations will not be considered for these awards.

• Oral Presentation (15 minute verbal presentation with slides; includes time for questions).
• Poster Presentation (Visual presentation only; must be present during poster session for questions).

Sponsor’s Name

If the submitting author is not a member of the Histiocyte Society, he/she must include the first and last name of the current Histiocyte Society member that is acting as the sponsor of the abstract. If the submitting author is a member of the Histiocyte Society, he/she need not complete these fields.

Abstract Title

List the complete title of the abstract in CAPITAL/UPPERCASE letters.

Abstract Authors

List the names of all contributing authors by first then last name; do not include degrees, titles or appointments.

Institutional Affiliations

List the institutional affiliations of contributing authors. Do not include any numbers indicating a link between a listed author and a listed institution. If numbers are included, they will be removed from the text.

Abstract Text

Abstracts should adequately describe the objectives and results of the research. Provide the complete headings and text of your abstract according to the guidelines below. Applications that do not comply with the format below will not be reviewed or considered for presentation at the meeting.

• Do not exceed 450 words in the text of the abstract; more than 450 words will not fit within the allotted text box in the online Abstract Application Form.
• The text of the abstract may not contain any tables and/or graphs.
• The text of the abstract must contain the following headings/sections:
• An introductory sentence indicating the purpose of the study,
• Materials and methods (brief description of pertinent experimental procedures),
• A summary of the new unpublished data, and
• A statement of conclusion.
